THE TOWN HALL MEETING TO HEAR FROM ALL RESIDENTS ON THE SCHOOL ISSUE WAS SUCCESSFUL!
THERE WERE OVER 200 IN ATTENDANCE, WITH 35 SPEAKERS, MANY GOOD POINTS WERE MADE. IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE MAJORITY OF ATTENDEES FROM SYDENHAM, AS WELL AS THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO HAVE WRITTEN TO ME FROM SYDENHAM SUPPORT RECONSIDERATION. THEREFORE: I DID JUST THAT ON NOVEMBER 17TH. UNFORTUNATELY, I ONLY CONVINCED HALF OF THE VOTES NEEDED. THE MOTION FAILED 6-7.
In the end, I received 455 emails on the subject. Of the residents from Sydenham, 90% were in favour of reconsideration. Two-thirds (67%) of the residents from other downtown districts, including Williamsville, were in favour. It was clearly something that downtown residents wanted discussed.
